What is performance marketing?

Performance marketing is paid advertising to reach customers at the exact moment they're ready to buy. Its engine is Google Ads and PPC (pay-per-click) advertising. When someone searches "engineering college admission 2026," they aren't scrolling for entertainment. They have a need today, and your ad can be the first answer they see.

Social media builds interest over time while performance marketing captures intent in the moment. And because every click, enquiry, and cost per lead is tracked, you always know your return on ad spend, down to which keyword brought which customer.

The Chain

The five-step performance marketing chain we manage.

Every customer who comes from paid ads travels the same five steps. Most agencies manage only one step and call it a service. Brains Media Solutions manages the full chain — because if even one step is weak, your whole ad budget underperforms.

01

The Search — reaching buyers, not browsers

The common mistake

Google Ads are shown to people who search similar words but will never buy — students, doing research, job seekers, and people looking for free tips.

What we do

Keyword research focused on buying intent, plus negative keywords that block the useless clicks before you pay for them.

02

The Ad — winning the right click

The common mistake

Generic ad copy that attracts everyone, which mostly means the wrong people.

What we do

Ad copy that filters as it attracts. It says who the offer is for, what it costs, and where you are, so the click you pay for is already half-convinced.

03

The Landing Page — turning the visit into interest

The common mistake

Ads point to the homepage, where visitors must hunt for what the ad promised. Most leave in seconds.

What we do

We design and build dedicated landing pages in-house, one clear action, fast loading, with the ad's promise answered on the first screen.

04

The Enquiry — making contact easy

The common mistake

Long forms nobody finishes, and no option for the many Indian buyers who prefer chatting over typing.

What we do

Short forms, click-to-call buttons, and WhatsApp-connected ads, so an interested visitor becomes a conversation in one tap.

05

The Proof — knowing what worked

The common mistake

No conversion tracking, so budget decisions run on guesswork and gut feeling.

What we do

Call, form, and WhatsApp tracking installed before launch. Every lead is traced back to its keyword, so next month's budget goes exactly where this month's customers came from.

Channels

What we run.

Google Search Ads

Be the first answer when a buyer types "your service + your city" into Google. You pay only when they click, and we make sure the wrong people don't.

Remarketing

9 out of 10 visitors leave without enquiring. Remarketing brings them back. The cheapest customers you'll ever buy, most agencies simply forget them.

Google Display & YouTube Ads

Stay in front of your audience with banners and video across the web. We deploy them with purpose, for awareness and follow-up.

Meta & LinkedIn Lead Campaigns

Reach buyers by city, interest, and job title, before they even search. One strategy across all your channels, so your own ads never fight each other.

Landing Page Design & Build

Your ad wins the click. The page wins the customer. We build both. Made in-house with one message, one button, and loads faster.

Tracking & Attribution Setup

Know exactly which keyword and ad brought every single inquiry. Before we spend anything, we make sure everything can be measured.

The Standard

How we treat your account — the BMS standard.

These aren't services, they're the working standards most agencies charge extra for, or skip entirely.

What you get with BMS What most agencies give Why it matters to you
Reports every week One PDF a month, after the money's spent A problem caught in week 1 costs far less than one found in week 4
One named senior contact A shared team behind a ticket system You call one person who knows your account, not "we'll get back to you"
Your account worked on a weekly basis Set up once, then silence Ad auctions change every week. An untouched account slowly bleeds money
Competitor review every quarter Sold separately as a paid add-on You see what rivals are running and bidding
Targets agreed before spending Reports that count activity, not results We commit to lead and cost goals upfront, and explain honestly when we miss them

Timing

When should you run Google Ads in India? The BMS seasonal advertising calendar.

Google charges by auction, and auctions follow seasons. Advertising at the wrong time means paying peak prices for off-peak demand. So at BMS, when to spend is decided before how much. The calendar most agencies never discuss:

Education — the admission window

Parents start researching schools from December. College searches explode after board results in May–June. The campaign must be live before the rush. A school that starts advertising in April is bidding at peak prices for parents who shortlisted schools in February.

Retail & D2C — the festive quarter

Navratri to Diwali drives the year's heaviest buying, but auction prices surge with it. So build remarketing audiences cheaply in August–September, then convert them in October when everyone else is paying festive rates for cold traffic.

Wedding businesses — book before the baraat

Jewellery, venues, apparel, and photography are all booked months before the wedding, even though weddings cluster in November–February and April–May. By the time the season starts, the bookings are done. Wedding ads must run during the planning, not the celebration.

B2B & manufacturing — the budget calendar

Corporate buyers move with the financial year. January to March is when leftover budgets get spent, and April to May is when new ones get allocated. A supplier visible in those windows meets buyers holding money. The same ad in monsoon does not give you the expected results.

Local services — follow the trigger

Some local services run on triggers. AC repair peaks in April heat, waterproofing before the monsoon, pest control after it. We scale spend into the trigger and cut it once it passes. Paying year-round auction prices for seasonal demand is quite steady waste.

The principle under all of it: buyers research before they buy, so budgets go live before the season and rest after it.

By Industry

Performance marketing by industry, because buyers don't search alike.

A parent, a patient, and a purchase manager type completely different things into Google, which is why we build every campaign from that industry's real searches, never from another sector's template. What actually changes:

Education

Parents search early, compare long, and decide together — "CBSE school admission Belagavi fees" is a family conversation, not an impulse. Campaigns run on long research cycles, with remarketing doing the heavy lifting between the first search and the final visit.

Healthcare

Patients search with urgency and privacy, "knee specialist near me." Campaigns lead with trust and proximity, land on doctor-and-credential pages, and route to calls, because nobody fills a form about their health at 11 pm. They just want to call.

Real Estate

Buyers search by locality and configuration, like "2BHK ready to move Tilakwadi," and take months to decide. Precision targeting per project micro-market, with remarketing that stays patient. Here, a good cost per lead means nothing without the site-visit rate behind it.

Manufacturing & B2B

Purchase managers search for specifications like "corrugated box manufacturer bulk order," "SS 304 pipe supplier Karnataka." Volume is tiny, but every click is money. The campaigns run narrow-match keywords, spec-level landing pages, and weekday-business-hours scheduling.

Local Services

When the search is "service + near me + now," the campaign must match it. We run radius-targeted, call-first ads that go live only during your working hours. An emergency plumber ad running while the shop is closed generates exactly one thing — a competitor's customer.

Same platform with five different logics. That's why our first question is never "what's your budget?" — it's "what does your buyer type into Google?"

FAQs

Performance marketing FAQs

What is performance marketing?

Performance marketing is paid advertising where every rupee is tracked to a result such as a lead, a call, or a sale. It runs mainly on Google Ads and paid lead campaigns. If a campaign cannot show what each lead costs, it is not performance marketing.

What is the difference between performance marketing and social media marketing?

Performance marketing captures people who are already searching for a product or service, mostly through Google Ads. Social media marketing builds interest among people who are not searching yet. One harvests demand, and the other creates it, and most businesses need both to work together.

How much budget do I need to start Google Ads?

There is no fixed starting figure because click prices differ by industry and city. A local service in a smaller city can learn from a modest monthly budget, while competitive categories in metros cost more. The honest number comes from keyword research done before you commit, not from a guess in a sales meeting.

How quickly will I see leads from paid ads?

Enquiries can start within days of launch, but reliable results take four to six weeks. The first weeks are a testing phase where small budgets reveal what a click, a chat, and a lead really cost for your business. Judging paid ads in week one is judging them too early.

Can an agency tell me my cost per lead in advance?

No honest agency can, because your real cost per lead depends on your market, your offer, and live auction prices. Anyone quoting an exact figure before testing is borrowing numbers from someone else's business. The testing phase exists to find your true number.

What is a good cost per lead?

A good cost per lead is one that your profit margin can comfortably pay, and that figure is different for every business. A school admission, an insurance policy, and a packaging order all support very different lead costs. The target should be set from your own economics before campaigns begin.

Do I pay the ad money to the agency or to Google?

Ad money goes directly from your account to Google or Meta, and you can see every rupee on the platform's own billing. The agency fee is separate and clearly stated. This separation lets you verify every report against the platform's own numbers.

Why did my earlier Google Ads not work?

Failed ad accounts usually share the same faults. Common ones include no negative keywords, ads pointing to the homepage instead of a proper landing page, no conversion tracking, and an account nobody touched after setup. An audit shows exactly which fault applied to yours.

What are negative keywords and why do they matter?

Negative keywords are search terms you tell Google never to show your ads for, such as free, jobs, or course. Without them, you pay for clicks from people who were never going to buy. They are one of the cheapest fixes with the biggest savings in any ad account.

What is remarketing, and is it worth it?

Remarketing shows your ads again to people who visited your website but did not enquire. Since most visitors leave without acting on the first visit, remarketing is usually the cheapest source of leads in an account. It is also the most commonly ignored one.

Do ads need a special landing page, or can they go to my website?

Ads perform far better with a dedicated landing page built for that offer. A homepage makes visitors hunt for what the ad promised, and most leave within seconds. A landing page carries one message and one clear action, so the paid click has the best chance of becoming an enquiry.

What is conversion tracking?

Conversion tracking connects every call, form, and WhatsApp enquiry back to the exact keyword and ad that produced it. Without it, budget decisions run on guesswork. With it, next month's money goes exactly where this month's customers came from.

Can we pause ads during our off-season?

Yes, and for seasonal businesses, it is often the smart move. Paying year-round auction prices for demand that only exists for a few months is quite a waste. A planned pause with a proper restart protects both your budget and your account history.

Do you guarantee results from paid ads?

No, because auction prices, competitors, and market demand sit outside any agency's control. What can be guaranteed is the discipline behind the work, meaning tracking before spending, structured testing, weekly optimisation, and reports you can verify yourself. That discipline is what makes results likely.

Is performance marketing better than SEO?

Neither is better because they do different jobs. Paid ads bring visibility on a deadline and stop when the spend stops, while SEO builds slowly and keeps working. The smart pattern is to let ads carry demand now, learn which keywords convert, and feed those learnings into the SEO plan.
